We tested a lot of performance shirts before landing on these.
Most either felt cheap, lost their sun protection after a few washes, or the prints cracked and peeled. We wanted something better — something that actually holds up to real days on the river.
Gulch Guard is the shirt we wear ourselves.
It’s made from a premium technical polyester that feels soft on your skin and moves with you without clinging or stretching out. The fabric is lightweight, breathable, quick-drying, and built to handle sun, sweat, and river water while staying comfortable all day.
What makes these shirts different is the sublimation printing process. Instead of ink sitting on top of the fabric, the artwork is dyed directly into the fibers. This means the design becomes part of the shirt itself it won’t crack, peel, or fade, no matter how much sun it takes or how many times it’s washed.
The protection actually improves the more you wear and wash it. These shirts carry the Skin Cancer Foundation’s Seal of Recommendation and deliver strong UPF 50+ sun protection on covered areas. They also feature advanced moisture-wicking technology to keep you cool and dry, plus permanent odor control that won’t wash out.
