Whiskey Gulch Outdoors was built on Montana rivers.
Years of guiding on the Yellowstone, Stillwater, Bighorn, Blackfoot, and Clark Fork taught us what these waters give — and what they need. We started this brand because we believe the gear we wear should be as honest as the places we use it, and that a portion of what we do should actively help keep those places wild, clean, and free.
That belief led us to partner with the Clark Fork Coalition.
Since 1985, the Clark Fork Coalition has worked to protect rivers and streams across the Clark Fork River basin in western Montana. Their focus spans the Bitterroot, the Upper Clark Fork, and the Middle Clark Fork — places that face real pressure from growth, recreation, historical mining contamination, outdated policies, and declining late-season flows.
The Coalition’s work is practical and on the ground. They secure instream flows through water rights and leases so rivers stay connected when it matters most. They replace undersized culverts, improve irrigation diversions, stabilize banks, and reduce sediment to restore coldwater habitat. Their science and legal teams push for stronger Superfund cleanup and better policy. They educate the next generation of river stewards, run responsible recreation programs during float season, and support grassroots efforts through their Water Watchdogs program.
We partnered with them because their work matches what we care about.
A portion of every Whiskey Gulch sale supports the Clark Fork Coalition. Our first limited drop of handmade wooden landing nets was created as a direct expression of that partnership — built in Montana, designed to last, and tied to the rivers that raised us.

About Us
Whiskey Gulch Outdoors was founded in Montana by two lifelong friends who grew up hunting and fishing together. They became close at the University of Montana, spending every free moment chasing elk, fishing rivers, and living the outdoor life they loved.
The name came from a late night spent sharing a bottle of Black Velvet and studying a map of Montana. When they found a rugged backroad called Whiskey Gulch, the name hit them immediately — rough, honest, and unmistakably Montana. That moment became the foundation of the brand.
Over the years, one of the founders guided fishermen across the state on the Yellowstone, Stillwater, Bighorn, Blackfoot, and Clark Fork Rivers. Those long days on the water shaped exactly what the gear needed to be: lightweight, durable, quick-drying, and built for real Montana conditions.
Today, Whiskey Gulch Outdoors creates technical apparel designed and tested in the same places that raised us. A portion of every sale supports the Clark Fork Coalition and other local organizations working to keep Montana’s public lands wild, its waters clean, and this way of life alive for the next generation.
